Both Rihanna and Lauryn Hill pulled out of Grammy performances at the last minute last night, and for totally different reasons.
According to TMZ, Rihanna was battling bronchitis and is on medication. The singer actually arrived at the venue but did not walk the red carpet. She went to rehearsals and went home. Her doctors advised her not to perform because it could permanently damage her vocal chords.
Her rep said in a statement, “Based on Rihanna’s examination, after Grammy rehearsal today, Rihanna’s doctor put her on vocal rest for 48 hours because she was at risk of hemorrhaging her vocal chords.”
But where was Lauryn Hill? She was suppose to perform with The Weeknd, however a statement was released saying that she didn’t perform because she was never 100% confirmed to. According to Billboard, her rep said in a statement, “The Grammy’s announced a performance by Ms. Lauryn Hill prematurely and without approval. Ms. Hill had concerts all weekend, leaving no time to prepare, and was uncertain she would even be able to make it to LA in time to rehearse for the event. Any performance that could have happened was never confirmed, and should not have been advertised as such.”
