Despite her recent breakup with Calvin Harris, Taylor Swift has proven once again that she’s a romantic at heart. Swift surprised a lucky couple at their wedding in New Jersey on Saturday, making an already memorable occasion go down in history for all attendees. The groom, Max Singer, is a big fan of the “Bad Blood” singer, and that combined with a personal tragedy seemed to have moved Swift to go to unusual lengths to make his wedding day spectacular. Singer’s sister wrote a letter to Swift in April telling her about his impending marriage to fiancé Kenya Smith, planned to be conducted at his ailing mother’s bedside. Sadly, she passed away before he could dance with her at his wedding, but he did do a mother-son dance in her hospital bed to “Blank Space.”
Selena Gomez has confirmed that she is not going to cancel her show in North Carolina on Tuesday, June 7th. While other artists, including Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Demi Lovato,Nick Jonas and Maroon 5 have canceled their shows as a show of protest against the state’s controversial anti-LGBT law, Gomez is approaching the issue in a different way. In a statement she made to Billboard, she explained: “I am very fortunate to have grown up in a home where I learned from an early age that everyone should be treated equally. I went back and forth on whether I should cancel my concert in North Carolina and ultimately I think what is right for me is to move forward with my show and donate a portion of the proceeds to Equality North Caroline and their effort to defeat this act of discrimination.”
It has been a rough week for young Hollywood with Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris breaking up, then Gigi Hadad and Zayn Malik, and now Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama have parted ways. Demi and Wilmer skipped the publicist route, and went straight for the heart of the social mediaverse, posting identical notes on their Instagram accounts Friday night. They are splitting after six years together, saying in their post that they are “better as best friends. We will always be supportive of each other.”
Pink is a pretty cool mom, on Saturday, June 4th she surprised daughter Willow, 5, with a Matt Damon-themed birthday cake. The adorable confection is shaped like Mars and features an astronaut figurine on top with a photo of Damon’s face.
Richard Simmons was reportedly hospitalized on Friday night after some odd behaviour at his home. Details of his behaviour have not been revealed but sources tell TMZ that a guest at his home in the Hollywood Hills was concerned enough to call 911. Paramedics arrived on the scene and determined that he required further evaluation. He was released the following day after it was determined that he did not have a stroke.
Ozzy Osbourne is not out of the dog house but he and Sharon are working on things. A source told Page Six, “They’re not about to book a trip to the Maldives together but they talk every day. She’s still disgusted by him.” The insiders also revealed that their family and friends are all on Sharon’s side and will support her in whatever she decides to do. It has also been rumored that their marriage drama is being faked to promote Ozzy’s new tour.
Channing Tatum has enrolled at Harvard Business School. The school revealed on Facebook on Thursday (June 2nd) that the 21 Jump Street star as well as LL Cool J, Pau Gasol and Chris Paul will be taking one of their executive education courses throughout the month of June. Their participation is being described as the school’s first ‘live case’.”
Zootopia has surpassed the $1 billion mark at the global box office after 17 weeks in theaters. The movies has earned over $337 million in North America alone. It is the 11th Disney movie to accomplish that and only the fourth animated movie to do so.
Elizabeth Banks will no longer be directing the third Pitch Perfect movie. She said in a statement, “It was all timing. We feel obligated to put out the best movie and anyone who has done sequels, this third one is hard to figure out what the story is. We want to give the audience what it wants but not making it repetitive. We have been in development and it took longer than we thought and I needed to shoot another movie in the summer and I can’t shoot it in the fall because it butts up against our kids’ stuff in a way that I wasn’t comfortable with.” Elizabeth made her directorial debut with 2015’s Pitch Perfect 2.
Jack Black is not dead. Fans of the Goosebumps star were brokenhearted when Jack’s band, Tenacious D, tweeted on Sunday that he had died but it turned out to be a hoax started by hackers. The hackers wrote, “It is with a heavy heart I am to announce that Jack Black passed away last night at 3:37 am. The cause of death is yet unknown.” The band later clarified, “WE had our Twitter account hacked. We can assure you that Jack is ALIVE and WELL and that this was a sick ‘prank’.”
