Taylor Swift seems to have hit a fork in the road because she cannot sue Kanye West and Kim Kardashian over her recorded phone call. According to TMZ, in California, if someone were to record a “confidential communication” and the person on the other end of the phone wasn’t aware that they were being recorded, the act is considered a crime. However, the site notes that “confidential communication” does not include if the phone conversation is “overheard.”
It hasn’t been the easiest week for Taylor Swift but at least she has Tom Hiddleston to help her through. A source told Us Weekly, “She is completely upset and flabbergasted that Kim and Kanye keep using her name for publicity and keep trying to bring her down. She made her statement on Instagram and is sticking by it. This is not anything she asked to be a part of and they keep dragging her into this.” The insider added, “Tom is really being so supportive and telling her to be calm. This is incredibly hurtful and unnecessary.”
John Legend has responded to claims that Melania Trump’s speech used common phrases by him. The Republican National Convention Chief strategist Sean Spicer denied that Trump copied Michelle Obama’s 2008 speech, but rather she used common phrases by John Legend, Kid Rock, Public Enemy, Akon and My Little Pony.
Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney have called off their engagement. The former couple, who became engaged on Valentine’s Day 2015, have been together since 2011. According to TMZ, sources said Gaga and Kinney split earlier this month, but it’s unclear who decided to end things or if it was a mutual split. An insider reportedly told E! News, “They want to keep it private. It’s heartbreaking.”
Katy Perry’s CoverGirl line is getting called out for copyright infringement. According to TMZ, the cosmetic company, Hard Candy, says that Katy’s line with CoverGirl ripped them off. Hard Company is using CoverGirl’s parent company, Procter & Gamble, over Perry’s line of lipsticks, mascaras, foundations and other cosmetics. According to docs obtained by the site, Hard Candy says Katy’s line is infringing on their 10-year-old trademark. Hard Candy wants Katy’s line removed from shelves, in addition to a portion of the profits made since the line’s spring launch.
Selena Gomez recently had the most liked photo on Instagram, which was an ad for Coca-Cola. Adweek has now revealed how much Selena’s social media posts are worth. According to the site, the singer’s posts are worth $550,000 when they appear on Twitter, Instagram andFacebook. Selena’s posts have increased by $300,000 from last December.
Celine Dion has unveiled the release date for her upcoming album, Encore Un Soir. Celine tweeted Monday morning (July 18th), “Mark your calendars!
