Queen’s Park is committing $60 million to build the so-called third crossing in Kingston.
Provincial Transportation Minister Steven Del Luca announced the provincial share today at city hall.
Del Luca told the dozens of people present that the province will work with the city to secure a similar contribution from the federal government.
The bridge will span the Cataraqui River from the end of John Counter Boulevard to Gore Road in the east end.
Construction of the bridge is expected to begin in 2019.
It could be complete by 2023.
The project still needs city council approval.
That process begins tonight with the first of a two-part special city council meeting.
Darryn Davis will have the full story tonight on CKWS News at 6.
