10 teams gathered in downtown Kingston today to ‘pull together for epilepsy’ — literally — by hauling a 38 thousand pound fire truck. The goal is to drag this fully loaded Kingston and Fire & rescue truck 100 feet. Prizes are awarded for fastest time, team spirit and total amount raised. But organizers say the most important part is raising awareness and increasing support for community members affected by epilepsy. The fire truck pull is ‘epilepsy south eastern Ontario’s’ biggest fundraiser every year.
Sadie Augustyn/Youth Ambassador, Epilepsy South Eastern Ontario:
“We raise about 8 thousand dollars each year and the money goes to people going around the community, raising awareness. That’s what we need the money for.”
