Hurricane Irma has had a catastrophic impact on thousands of lives and just recently made its way to Florida. Many weren’t able to evacuate the area before the storm hit including actor Kristen Bell who was staying at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort. Bell has been inspiring the world with her kindness and generosity by doing her best to help those in the area.
Last run to the store for #irma hurricane holdover prep while bracing down in orlando- we didn't have the option to leave so here we are. Just doing our best and trying to stay positive but cautious, and trying to help those who need help prepping. Every person i passed today was assisting someone else- #neighborshelpingneighbors - it was beautiful to see. Sad that a hurricane has to bring out the best in everyone- but happy that the community will be holding hands through this. Im grateful to Gary and the team at @swandolphin in epcot for helping us feel safe while we get through this together.
Bell visited a local school acting as a shelter where she sang song from Disney’s ‘Frozen.’
When an assisted living centre was evacuated and the residents were brought to her hotel Bell played Bingo with them, dined with them, and was an all around beacon of light.
Bell has been documenting her time in Florida on Instagram and her photos are bringing incredible joy to her fans, some of whom have been impacted by Hurricane Irma themselves. “Your posts have brought pure joy during a very difficult time (we rode out Irma in SE Georgia). You have restored my faith in humanity,” wrote clmick14. “You’re are simple amazing!’ You give people hope in humanity,” wrote another user.
Oh, and you can’t forget about the midnight wheelchair races!
Jimmy Kimmel recently reached out to Bell to check in and to meet her new friends.
